Aletsch isthe largest glacier in the Alps, located in the Canton of Valais. Like allglaciers today, it is retracting, and most of it will melt down in thenot-too-distant future. I wanted to visit the glacier to make photographs for afuture project. Luckily, I got a grant from Helge Ax:son Johnsons Foundation tomake the trip and get on the glacier. You are not allowed to access the glacieron your own since it's full of crevasses and precarious. Kilian Volken fromBergsteigerzentrum in Fiesch helped me access the glacier, and I made severalbreathtaking and interesting images.
